Casa Batlló in Barcelona is one of the most emblematic works of Barcelona, designed by Antoni Gaudí. Façade inspired by nature:
Designed by Antoni Gaudí, the undulating façade of Casa Batlló is inspired by organic and natural forms, such as waves and bones. The balconies resemble skulls and the multicolored ceramics evoke a marine reef. It is one of Barcelona’s most photographed icons.
The Dragon Roof: The rooftop features a design reminiscent of a dragon’s back with colorful scales, interpreted as a reference to Sant Jordi (Saint George) and his fight against the dragon, symbol of Catalonia. The chimney also has unique sculptural forms.
The Patio de Luces: This central space connects the floors and is lined with blue tiles that graduate their color intensity to optimize natural lighting. A sample of Gaudí’s genius in integrating functionality and aesthetics.
The Noble Hall: The main room of the house, located on the main floor, combines organic design and stunning views of Passeig de Gràcia. Its large window and undulating details make the light flow in a magical way.
Structural Innovation: Casa Batlló is an example of modernism ahead of its time. Gaudí designed every detail, from the decorative elements to the natural ventilation systems, showing a unique attention to ergonomics and sustainability.
In short, the visit is a fascinating experience that is not only an immersion in modernist architecture, but also a lesson in Gaudí’s life and work, all in a breathtaking setting.
